General Meeting
April 26, 2009

Chairman Mr. Northrop calls the meeting to order at 8:12 hrs. Roll was called, 37 members were present; a quorum. 5 members were excused and 0 members were absent. Appropriate sponsorship 'Debra Sheldon' and 'Gloria Godchaux' from Operation:Mom was present.
Members were asked to remove their hats for a moment of silence for the American Prisoners of War, those Missing in Action, those Killed in Action, and for our troops deployed around the world.
Members were asked to indicate if they received their minutes of the last months meeting. A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes from the March meeting. A vote was taken and passed to accept the minutes.
TREASURER'S REPORT: (R. Portune): I was not able to obtain a trust report this month, I will have one by our next meeting.
OUTSIDE COORDINATOR: (F. Lemus): read a list of correspondence.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
BY-LAWS: Mr. Hagan: there is nothing to report.
FOOD SALE: Mr. Portune: there is nothing to report.
SOCIAL: Mr. Portune: the Narrative has been complete and awaiting approval. We would like to thank everyone for their donation to the scholarships social; the donations taken from your books on May 6th. Applebee’s will be catering this event. Mr. Portune read a list of choices and the group voted on steak. A meal for the vegetarians will be served. The group was asked that each member bring two sodas with them, one for themselves and one for a guest.
COLOR GUARD: There is nothing to report. The Chairman Mr. Northrop thanked the Color Guard for the good job on the opening day ceremony for this year’s baseball season.
STAMPS FOR SOLDIERS: Mr. Schuhmacher: There is nothing to report.
We would like to clarify that the stamps for soldiers program is used stamps still on envelopes. These stamps are peeled off envelopes and are used as therapy for wounded soldiers.
REAL CHOICES: Mr. Renteria: a short report was given.
GRANTS: Mr. Singler: There is nothing to report.
TAB'S FOR TOT'S: Mr. Sanders: Gave a short report. New posters have been made. Mr. Sanders asked for plastic containers.
TOY PROGAM: Mr. Renteria: on stand down until next year.
PRESENTATION BOXES: Mr. Roberts: Seven presentation boxes were given on our behalf at this year’s Airborne Static Line Awards as well as two rings. We have 15 boxes being made at this time to honor veterans. Also the one to be used at this years Scholarship and Operation:Mom event.
ALL BOXES WERE HAND CARVED WITH MILITARY ICONS
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Mr. Leavitt: gave a short report. Operation:Mom has some applications. Gloria Godchaux from Operation:Mom spoke on two new volunteers who will attend the scholarship event and the issue of gate passes.
CAMARADERIE NIGHT: Thanks to Mr. Bolema for sponsoring this event. Camaraderie Night was a great success last month and all had a good time. A vote was taken for the next movie, and on May 30, 2009 U 571 will be shown.
OLD BUSINESS:
No old business.
NEW BUSINESS
Mr. Leavitt brought up the issue of Stan Baer’s medical problem. The group will assist him in any way possible.
The Chairman Mr. Northrop spoke on the logistics of the up coming Scholarship Luncheon and Operation:Mom packing day event. Mr. Portune made a suggestion to add along with the notes the group will place in the boxes for the troops a copy of the Soldiers Prayer.
The group gave its support to Mr. Kie who just lost his nine-year-old son. We all will pray for him in his time of sorrow and for his son.
Mr. Langnese and Mr. Singler may be leaving the group due to paroling. They both gave statements.
The Chairman Mr. Northrop thanked Debra Sheldon and Gloria Godchaux for sponsoring this meeting.
There was a motion to adjourn the meeting and seconded. The motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 0843 hrs.
