General Meeting

Meeting was called to order at 8:08 hrs. by Chairman K. Hagan. Roll was called. A quorum of 38 voting members were present, 3 members were excused and 0 members were absent. Appropriate sponsorship was present. Chief Sponsor Lt. Cramer and Co-Sponsor Debra Sheldon, Vice Principal and Gloria of Operation Mom was also present.

Members were asked to remove their hats for a moment silence for American Prisoners of War, those Missing in Action, those Killed in Action, and for our troops deployed around the world.

Members were asked to indicate if they received their minutes of the last meeting. A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes from the March 2008 meeting. A vote was taken and passed to accept the minutes.

TREASURER REPORT: (R. Portune) To date we have in our account $209.90 and of this money $110.00 is earmarked for the Hat Fund. The group has sent $700.00 to the 82nd Airborne for the Scholarship fund.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:


BYLAWS: Mr. Northrop - Remainder of the By-Laws for voting.

FOOD SALE: Mr. Portune - The group thanks Mr. Lemus for printing the Food Sale Form. Gloria asked for clarification on the date of the Food Sale delivery date. the date is June 1st 2008. Mr. Portune spoke on the possibility of a price increase on items sold on the food sale list. A discussion of what we should do if the price of these items should exceed out selling price. The group took a vote to eat the cost should this happen to keep the groups good name on food sales.


SOCIAL: Mr. Protune - The Social is on track. Operation Mom is donating the dessert, drinks and utensils. Carol Jackson is donating the tablecloths. Debra Sheldon asked if the event could be filmed. This was tabled until next meeting for discussion.

COLOR GUARD: The Color Guard requires a two-week notice in writing for the Color Guard to be used for other group's functions. Opening day baseball was the issue.

COMMARADERIE NIGHT: Mr. Stetler - The next scheduled camaraderie night is Saturday May 17th.

REAL CHOICE: Mr. Renteria - Nothing to report.

STAMPS FOR SOLDIERS: Mr. Warren - We have received more stamps from the Museum of Fine Arts San Francisco. We thank them for their donation. It is appreciated. We have mailed 10,000 stamps to the Stamps for Soldiers Program. Group funds were used for postage. Mr. Warren has moved to H-Unit, so he can no longer chair the Stamps for Soldiers Program in North Block. The group would like to thank Mr. Warren for a job well done. Mr. Schuhmacher was appointed to chair the program.

GRANTS: Mr. Singler - Waiting for a response.

SCHOLARSHIP: Mr. Leavitt - Nothing new to report. Gloria from Operation Mom brought two applications for the scholarship.



OLD BUSINESS:No Old Business.


NEW BUSINESS


New member Mr. Schuhmacher's probation is up. He made a short statement. A secret ballot was taken. He was unanimously voted into the group.

We have started a new program called Tabs for Tots. The program is to help kids. The chair for this program will be Mr. Sanders.

Due to the parole of our Chairman Mr. Miller, Mr. Hagan will take his place. That leaves us with the Vice-Chairman opening. We took a written nomination for this office. The nominees are the following: Mr. Blair, Mr. Haskin, Mr. Kie and Mr. Sanders. A secret ballot was taken. Mr. Blair was voted into the office of Vice-Chairman.

Two members have paroled: Mr. Miller and Mr. Atkins. We wish them both the best. a short note was received from Mr. Miller. He is doing well and loves Menlo Park.

Mr. Northrop made a statement about the Airborne Convention. General Patraeus, Don Lessen, Static Line Publisher, Frank Schoch, Veterans Corner Columnist, Richard Becker, Past President 82nd Airborne Association, Duke Armendeariz Past President 82nd Airborne Association, Millard Ball 187th Airborne Association President and Mike George, were given presentation boxes from the V.V.G.S.Q. at the Airborne Convention and the Annual Static Line Awards. Twenty additional boxes were mailed following the convention to support Airborne Chapter Charities across our Nation.

Operation Mom up date - Gloria said all is well. Operation Mom is now a 501-C-3 non-profit organization.

Thank you Lt. Cramer, Debra Sheldon and Gloria for sponsoring our meeting.

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting, the motion was second. The motion passed.

The next meeting will be on May 18, 2008.
