General Membership Meeting

Meeting called to order at 1816 hours by Vice-Chairman Portune. Roll was called. A quorum of voting members was present.


Vice-Chairman Portune asked everyone to remove their hats for a moment of silence for America’s Prisoners of War, her Missing in Action, those Killed in Action, and our troops deployed around the world.


Members were asked to indicate if they received their minutes of the last meeting. A clarification was made concerning the amount of the inspirational award in the amount of $1500.00. A motion was made to accept the minutes of the April 2006. Motion carried. (Also due to a clerical error Mr. Miller was marked as absent at out last meeting, and it should be noted that he was excused).



  • TREASURER REPORT:(Mr. Lott) A summary of current account status was presented to the group and no questions were posed.

    COMMITTEE REPORTS:



  • BY-LAWS: (Mr. Northrop) The By-Laws Committee is waiting for the new signed By-Laws.

  • NON-PROFIT: (Mr. Singler) Attorney said we don’t qualify unless we incorporate, and working under the VVnW should be out of the question. This issue was tabled until further information could be gathered.

  • SCHOLARSHIP:(Mr. Leavitt) The committee is to meet on Monday to pick the winners.

  • SOCIAL (June 10, 2006): (Mr. Northrop) The program for the event was passed out to the group members. The set up crew was notified to be there at 0900 hours. The group voted on the menu for the event and decided on Mr. Chow’s. A $7 dollar donation was encouraged, and the group was told that the withdrawal slips would be held until June 26.

  • FOOD SALE/FUNDRAISER: (Mr. Lott) Nothing to report at this time.

  • COLOR GUARD: (Mr. Caffale) Color Guard will be posting colors at the Social.

  • CAMARADERIE NIGHT: (Mr. Faison) Nothing to report at this time.
  • R.E.A.L. CHOICES: (Mr. Stipe) Team ‘C’ will work this Friday, June 2. Mr. Stipe informed the members who did not want to attend to drop out so that others may join.

  • STAMPS FOR SOLDIERS: (Mr. Leavitt) There are 6,200 more waiting to be mailed out; members are reminded to continue to support this worthwhile function

  • GRANTS: (Mr. Langnese) There are no new resources and nothing new to add.
  • JOINT VENTURE:Nothing new to report.

    OLD BUSINESS

    - The group wishes to thank Loretta Shaeffer for all her help during the Operation:Mom Packing day.

    - The group extends a great thank you to Carol Jackson for all her support.

    - Thank you Operation:Mom for coming again. We enjoyed the day – as always!!

    - Group members were encouraged and reminded to stay until the end of the function.

    - Mr. Wells extended his appreciation to the group concerning the last foodsale. He appreciated the encouragement from the line after another groups function on Saturday.

    NEW BUSINESS

    - A proposal was brought before the group to gather 7 outside people to head up a VVGSQ corporation. This item was tabled until further information could be gathered.

    - A proposal was brought before the group to donate funds to two fund raisers by outside Veteran organizations. One was a picnic, and the other a spaghetti dinner. This item was tabled until our next meeting.

    - We were informed that Hector was no longer at this institution and would not be at our Social as a spiritual advisor.

    - Mr. Marshall was voted into full voting membership status. Welcome aboard Mr. Marshall.




    CLOSURE: A motion to close the meeting was made, motion carried and meeting closed at 1934 hours.
