Chairman Mr. Northrop called the meeting to order at 8:04 hrs. Roll was called, 32 members were present, a quorum. 7 members were excused and 1 members was absent. Designated sponsor Debra Sheldon was present.

Members were asked to remove their hats for a moment of silence for the American Prisoners of War, those Missing in Action, those Killed in Action, and for our troops deployed around the world.

Members were asked to indicate if they received their minutes of the last months meeting. Mr. Bear made a motion and a second to accept the minutes from the June meeting. The vote taken passed the motion to accept the minutes.

TREASURER'S REPORT: (D. Leavitt): At the beginning of this month, we had a balance of $372.86. The group sent $200.00 leaving a balance of $172.86. We are sending $21.00 to the Squires Group that was placed in our account by mistake. This brings a balance of $151.68 of usable funds.


OUTSIDE COORDINATOR: (J. Langnese): he stated that he received information concerning discounts that are available to Veterans from most telephone companies. An example ws the 15% discount that Verizon is offering to Veterans. (See Mr. Langnese for more information, and/or copes of the discount available.) We also received the below listed correspondences.

OUTSIDE COORDINATOR: J. Langnese: made mention that 20 prisoners donated items for the last Operation:Mom packing day. At least half of those that made donations were group members. All donors have received Chrono's as our way of saying thank you to them.

Mr. Haskin: was AWOL.



FOOD SALE:

Mr. Leavitt: reported that the narrative was given to Lt. Cramer on July 14th it was signed off all the way through the trust office so far and is traveling by route slip. We hope to have a sponsor hand carry it once it reaches the AW level.

There will be no stand by positions since we have plenty of members working this sale to pull from should someone neglect to shop up.



SOCIAL:

Mr. Leavitt: there is nothing to report at this time.



COLOR GUARD:

Mr. Caffale: there is nothing to report, until we know some up coming function dates.



STAMPS FOR SOLDIERS:

Mr. Rooke: is busy learning and checking things out in our language.
(We would like to clarify that the Stamps for Soldiers program is used stamps still on envelops. These stamps are peeled off envelops, and are used as therapy for wounded soldiers.)



CAMARADERIE NIGHT:

Mr. Portune: The group would like to thank the person who donated who wishes to remain (anonymous), the movie shown at the last camaraderie night. The movie was Taking Chance and everyone enjoyed the movie. The next camaraderie night will be on August the 29th. The movie will be Paths to Glory. A thank you was given on behalf of the group to Debra Sheldon for sponsoring camaraderie night.



REAL CHOICES:

Mr. Renteria: Sacramento has stood down this program until further notice. We hope to be active soon.



TAB'S FOR TOT'S:

Mr. Rooke: is currently getting familiar with all the ins and outs of this program.



TOY PROGRAM:

Mr. Renteria: The narrative was submitted to Lt. Cramer for review and it has been returned with changes noted. It will be typed and submitted around the middle of September. There are only going to be five days for handing toys out this year since by order of Sacramento, the Friday visiting program has been canceled.



GRANTS:

MR. Roberts: is going to be looking into what can be done, and picking up, where Mr. Singler left the program due to his paroling.



PRESENTATION BOXES:

Mr. Roberts: the program is proceeding as planned. Col. Franklin was sent his box, and Jake Graham was given his as well.





OLD BUSINESS:

There was no old business.



NEW BUSINESS

The second annual RUN to the PEN program: Chairman Mr. Hagan will be contacting C/O Pennington very soon to discuss the date and information regarding this event. The pins donated for last years event cost Mr. Northrop approximately $800.00 dollars. A discussion took place on how we will be able to finance the cost of the pins this year. There were ideas floated and discussed. There was no vote taken. this issue has been tabled until next months meeting on August 30th.

Operation:Mom packing Day: Ms Gloria Godchaux from Operation:Mom was not able to attend this months meeting. We will try to contact her as soon as possible to ascertain a date for our next packing day, as close to Veterans Day as would be convenient for them.



Chairman Mr. Hagan gave a special thank you to our Co-Sponsor Debra Sheldon for arriving at 7:30 hrs. opening the room, and making it possible to have this months meeting.



There was a motion to adjourn the meeting and seconded. The motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 0848 hrs.
