General Membership Meeting

Meeting called to order at 0826 hours by Chairman Renteria. Roll was called. A quorum of voting members was present.


Chairman Renteria asked everyone to remove their hats for a moment of silence for America’s Prisoners of War, her Missing in Action, those Killed in Action, and our troops deployed around the world.


Members were asked to indicate if they received their minutes of the last meeting. Mr. Butler's attendance at the June Membership meeting was noted as excused instead of absent as originally noted. A motion was made to accept the minutes from the June 2006 meeting. Motion carried.


  • TREASURER REPORT:(Mr. Lott) A summary of current account status was presented to the group and no questions were posed.


  • OUTSIDE COORDINATOR:(Mr. Langnese) The Group received the following correspondences:

    COMMITTEE REPORTS:



  • BY-LAWS: (Mr. Northrop) Stated, "Members are reminded that Group business requires Group approval. No one can commit the Group, or act/conduct anything on behalf of the Group without Group approval. If you have intentions and are not clear, ask the executive body.

  • NON-PROFIT: (Mr. Singler) We are waiting for By-Laws from Mr. Chaney to see if we can join with them. Once we hear back from him, we will discuss our options with the Executive Committee and proceed from there.

  • SCHOLARSHIP: (Mr. Leavitt) Gloria from Operation:Mom will be helping us this year.

  • SOCIAL (November 2006): (Mr. Northrop) We are beginning to put ideas together for out November Social, and planning on what will be served.

  • FOOD SALE/FUNDRAISER: (Mr. Lott) Our list is complete and ready to role. However, we are waiting to see what happens with the group in front of us. Either way things go, we are ready to move forward.

  • COLOR GUARD: (Mr. Caffale) There are three openings. If you are interested about being a part of the Color Guard see Geo.

  • CAMARADERIE NIGHT: (Mr. Faison) Nothing to report at this time.

  • R.E.A.L. CHOICES: (Mr. Stipe) The kids are coming. If you signed up please honor your commitment.

  • STAMPS FOR SOLDIERS: (Mr. Leavitt) There are 3,700 more waiting to be mailed out; members are reminded to continue to support this worthwhile function.

  • GRANTS: (Mr. Langnese) Nothing new at this time.

  • JOINT VENTURE PROJECT/VIDEO CAPTIONING: (Mr. Haskin) Nothing to report. This committee was stood down.

  • HOLIDAY TOY PROGRAM: (Mr. Stipe) Narrative will be submitted in September, and the flyers are ready to go.


    OLD BUSINESS

    - No old business to discuss.


    NEW BUSINESS

    - Menlo Park will be here Friday, August 18. The group will be ducated.

    - Mr. Navaerette, Mr. Merjil, and Mr. Renteria thanked the group members for their thoughts and support over the last few months.

    - Mr. Jacob Graham has shown interest in joining the group as a Co-Sponsor. The group has extended an application to him so that he may apply.

    - Two new group members were introduced. Welcome to the VVGSQ Mr. Jones and Mr. Morris.

    - The group held Executive Committee elections. The new Executive Committee is as follows:

    - The group extended thank yous to Debra Sheldon for coming in and allowing us the ability to hold our meeting. Thank you Debra for all your help.

    CLOSURE: A motion to close the meeting was made, motion carried and meeting closed at 0904 hours.
