General Meeting



Meeting called to order at 8:01 by Chairman D. Miller. Roll was called. A quorum of 38 voting Members were present, 8 members were excused and 2 members were absent.
Appropriate sponsorship was present. Correction Sergeant Schroeder, Debra Sheldon and Gloria Godchaux from Operation Mom.
Members were asked to remove their hats for a moment of silence for America’s Prisoners of War, her Missing in Action, those Killed in Action, and our troops deployed.

Members were asked to indicate if they received their minutes of the last meeting. A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes from the August 5, 2007 meeting.


TREASURER REPORT: (R. Portune) There has been no movement in our account to date.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Chairman Miller made appointments for the new Committee Chairman. They are as following:




REPORTS:
Food Sale: Narrative in the works. Talked about new restrictions. All profits have to be donated to charitable organizations.
Social: New restrictions were explained. There was some group discussion.
Color Guard: Nothing to report.
Camaraderie Night: Mr. Stetler informed the group that the Rice's would like to come to our next camaraderie night to show pictures of their Vietnam trip. We are working on a date for this event.
Scholarship: In the works.
Stamps for Soldiers: Nothing to report.
R.E.A.L. Choices: Mr. Renteria up-dated schedule.
Toy Program: Program is being worked on.



OLD BUSSINES:
Mr. Portune explained the money for the Tsunami Relief was finally sent to the Red Cross in San Francisco. Due to the hard work of Veteran Member Mr. Northrop and Mr. Diggs. A hardy thanks was given by the group to both Veterans and a round of applause as well. Mr. Portune explained; the money for the hats is still in place and will be ordered shortly. He also addressed the matter that the group will not have the money to buy hats any longer. Mr. Leavitt made a motion that all members, new and old; buy their own hats from this date forward. The motion was voted on and carried (yes).
The chairman Mr. Miller reiterated the By-Laws states that all member must wear their hats at all V.V.G.S.Q. functions. The hats are our uniform.



NEW BUSINESS:
Chairman Mr. Miller paid tribute to the outgoing Executive Body and thanked them for their hard work and the great job they did.

The new Executive Body was welcomed by the group.

Chairman Mr. Miller made a statement of his expectations and goals for the upcoming year.

New members Mr. Vick and Mr. Niday have completed their probationary period and were voted into the group. They were both given hats and welcomed to the group.

New Members. We have three new members who are now on their probationary period. Mr. Hickman and Mr. Denton gave a short statement; Mr. Mitchell was unable to attend the meeting due to problems getting out of H-Unit. They were welcomed to the group.

Mr. Marshall asked about the movement sheet and the problem that H-Unit is having being released. NOTE: I have talked to Debra Sheldon concerning this problem and we have decided that in the future I will send out Ducats for our meetings, in the hopes that this will alleviate the problem.

Mr. Langnese asked about the groups web site having old photos. the group discussed this issue. We will seek approval for a camera to be brought into our next function.

Gloria Godchaux from Operation Mom made a statement. She thanked the old Executive Body. She welcomed the new Executive Body into office. She asked for projected function dates for their yearly scheduling.

Chairman Miller introduced present free staff and thanked them for coming. Debra Sheldon, Gloria Godchaux, and Sergeant Schroeder.



A motion was made to adjourn the meeting and accepted. Motion carried (yes) meeting was adjourned at 8:51.



Reminder out next meeting will be September 30th 2007.
