General Membership Meeting

Meeting called to order at 0820 hours by Chairman Renteria. Roll was called. A quorum of voting members was present.
Chairman Renteria asked everyone to remove their hats for a moment of silence for America’s Prisoners of War, her Missing in Action, those Killed in Action, and our troops deployed around the world.
Members were asked to indicate if they received their minutes of the last meeting. No corrections or additions were noted. A motion was made to accept the minutes of the July 31, 2005, general membership meeting as written. Motion carried.
TREASURER REPORT:(Mr. Lott) A summary of current account status was presented to the group and no questions were posed.

**Frank Dawson requested a letter or permission from the VVGSQ to use names and pictures in an article or articles about Under Served Vets. Since out history and pictures are already on a public web site, it should be okay to use them. The group came up with the same decision.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
BY-LAWS: (Mr. Haskins) Nothing to report at this time.
HAPPY HATS: Stand down
NON-PROFIT: (Mr. Singler) Mr. Singler stated that he and Mr. Northrup are still in the process of trying to contact VVnW.
SOCIAL (December 2005): (Mr. Northrop) Mr. Northrop presented two different choices for the meal that the group needs to decide upon. One is the Chinese dinner and the other will come from a donation of a hog by Mr. Russell. The cost for the meals was the same – 100 meals at 495.00. This would necessitate an eleven- (11) dollar donation per member.
JOINT VENTURE PROJECT/VIDEO CAPTIONING: (Mr. Haskin) Nothing to report at this time.
COLOR GUARD: (Mr. Caffale) Nothing to report at this time.
CAMARADERIE NIGHT: (Mr. Faison) Mr. Faison stated that to set a date he would have to coordinate with June and Carol to find a night that they could both be free.
R.E.A.L. CHOICES: (Mr. Stipe) Mr. Stipe informed the members of Group C that the mentoring program was placed on hold for now and that they were trying to put together a video conference. He also informed them that there would be and October Social on the 22nd, and that it would be strictly voluntary.
STAMPS FOR SOLDIERS: (Mr. Leavitt) 7,000 stamps were mailed this month; members are reminded to continue to support this worthwhile function.
GRANTS: (Mr. Langnese) Mr. Langnese stated that he wrote to Kara Hawthorne who writes grants for the (HVRP), and asked her for any suggestions on who He should write to concerning matching grant money for our scholarship
HOLIDAY TOY PROGRAM: (Mr. Stipe) Mr. Stipe informed the group that the narrative for the program has been completed, and is in the process of getting the needed signatures. He is also compiling the workers list, and he reminded us that the list must be racially balanced.
OLD BUSINESS
Mr. Portune requested permission to send a letter and certificate of appreciation to the manager of Pioneer Kitchen for their donation in the Katrina Relief Fund Drive. A majority agreed to this proposal.
NEW BUSINESS
GOOD-BYE TO A MEMBER - Mr. Russell sat in on his last VVGSQ monthly membership meeting. We wish you all the best and look forward the hearing from you in the future. Mr. Russell’s address is in the VIP Office.
NEW MEMBERS - Mr. Hayes has fulfilled his probationary period, and was voted into the group as a full voting member.We also welcomed two new members into the group. Mr. Alexander and Mr. Shields started their probationary periods at this time. Welcome aboard.
MEMBER AT LARGE (North Block) - The group voted on a new Member at Large for North Block to fill the vacant spot. Mr. Baer, Mr. Barton, and Mr. Sanders all through their hats into the ring for the position with Mr. Barton emerging as the victor. Congratulations Harry!!
OPERATION:MOM - Our next packing day for Operation:Mom will be December 3, 2005. To cover the expenses we are requesting a seven- (7) dollar donation from each group member.
CLOSURE: A motion to close the meeting at 0948 hours was made, motion carried and meeting closed at 0948 hours.
