General Membership Meeting

Meeting called to order at 0809 hours by Chairman Renteria. Roll was called. A quorum of voting members was present.

Chairman Renteria asked everyone to remove their hats for a moment of silence for America’s Prisoners of War, her Missing in Action, those Killed in Action, and our troops deployed around the world.

Members were asked to indicate if they received their minutes of the last meeting. A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes from the October 2006 meeting. Motion approved.


TREASURER REPORT: (Mike Northrop) Donations were processed and extended to the following organizations: Operation:MOM - $1,000; Golden Gate chaper - $700; Treasure Island residency program - $500; Christmas toys for children of those incarcerated - $1,000. None of the trust withdrawals for the Veterans Day social have been submitted for processing. Withdrawals are currently being accepted for the purchasing of candy for the Christmas toy program, with a 2100 hours, 3rd December deadline. Inquires should be addressed to Wolf Stipe, 1N30.

Committee Reports:


BYLAWS: (Jeff Biggs) Nothing to report at this time.

FUND RAISER: (Mike Northrop) Ideas for new fund raising products were presented. Nothing new on the food sale hold.

SOCIAL: Narrative on hold. Funds being held pending further input from administrative sources. Even though we were unable to hold our social as scheduled we did not neglect to acknowledge our sponsors: Handicraft manager L. Shaeffer accepted a presentation box and warm applause for her outstanding sponsorship and help in the perfection of paperwork. Dotty and Gloria of Operation:MOM received certificates of appreciation from the VVGSQ. James Weber, James Conway, and Jim Kenny received plaques of appreciation, and finally, Colonial Curtis Johnson received a presentation box.

COLOR GUARD: (Gio Caffale) Nothing to report at this time.

CAMARADERIE NIGHT: (Larry "Popeye" Faison) December 30th is under consideration. Linda and Willis Rice wish to show recently taken photographs from their vacation in Vietnam.

R.E.A.L. CHOICES: (Wolf Stipe) Kids are coming in during December.

STAMPS FOR SOLDIERS: (John Warren) Eight thousand stamps appropriately posted.

HOLIDAY TOY PROGRAM: (Wolf Stipe) The program has more toys coming in. Things are moving along fine. There is a need for "candy money" donations (see Treasurer Report section of these minutes).



Old Business:


Nothing at this time.


New Business:


We welcomed one new voting member: At last, a member (Holloday) from the city of brotherly love. Show us how it's done, "Philadelphia". Welcome aboard.

VVGSQ website address cards were passed out.

This was the last meeting for member Rick Mortensen, who paroles December 1st. Rick was warmly applauded and thanked for his hard work and dedication.

Greg Sanders is set to collect for the toy program pending unit scheduling.

Carlos Morales's probation starts 26th November 2006.

Kudos to Ron Singler. Thanks Ron. That '62 Corvette should be in your Christmas stocking.





We adjourned at 0837 hours. All are reminded to inform the secretary of cell/dorm changes.
