General Membership Meeting

Meeting called to order at 0829 hours by Vice-Chairman Portune. Roll was called. A quorum of voting members was present.


Vice-Chairman Portune asked everyone to remove their hats for a moment of silence for America’s Prisoners of War, her Missing in Action, those Killed in Action, and our troops deployed around the world.


Members were asked to indicate if they received their minutes of the last meeting. No corrections or additions were noted. A motion was made to accept the minutes of the October 30, 2005, general membership meeting as written. Motion carried.


  • TREASURER REPORT:(Mr. Lott) A summary of current account status was presented to the group and no questions were posed.

    COMMITTEE REPORTS:



  • BY-LAWS: (Mr. Northrop) We are still trying to locate the newest set of By-Laws that has been signed.

  • NON-PROFIT: (Mr. Singler) Still no response.

  • SOCIAL (January 2006): (Mr. Northrop) Bobby Lee's is still a go. Everything is being taken care of. Mr. Northrop encouraged the members of the group to continue supporting our efforts.

  • FOOD SALE/FUNDRAISER: (Mr. Lott) The Foodsale for January is all set; the paperwork will be going in next week. The Foodsale for Feb/March is coming together nicely.

  • JOINT VENTURE PROJECT/VIDEO CAPTIONING: (Mr. Haskin) Nothing to report at this time.

  • COLOR GUARD: (Mr. Caffale) Nothing to report at this time.

  • CAMARADERIE NIGHT: (Mr. Faison) Nothing set at this time.

  • R.E.A.L. CHOICES: (Mr. Stipe) Mr. Stipe informed the members that the last meeting with the kids was canceled due to the lockdown. They are waiting for the new schedule from Lt. Crittendon.

  • STAMPS FOR SOLDIERS: (Mr. Leavitt) Three more bags of stamps were sent out; members are reminded to continue to support this worthwhile function.

  • GRANTS: (Mr. Langnese) Nothing new at this time.

  • HOLIDAY TOY PROGRAM: (Mr. Stipe) Mr. Stipe informed the group that everything is moving smoothly. He is working through the issues with staffing. There have been 68 bags of candy donated to this date.

    OLD BUSINESS

    We received two donations for the scholarship that came from people who read the San Diego Union article. Their names will be listed during our scholarship presentation as additional donors.


    NEW BUSINESS

    - A motion was brought before the group to donate money to the Holiday Toy Program. The group decided and voted to donate $500.00 to this honorable event to purchase toys for the children of the men at San Quentin.

    - The group discussed donating money for the Children's Hospital Cancer Center through the 1,000 Mile Club. The group voted and decided to donate $100.00.

    - Mr. Sanders had an item placed on the Agenda for this meeting, but decided to table it at this time.

    - The men wanted to know if it was possible to see some of the artwork that is being made from the cancelled stamps that we are sending in.



    We would like to say goodbye to Mr. Perez, Mr. Hayes, and Mr. Fuller. These men will be paroling before our next scheduled meeting. Good luck men!



    CLOSURE: A motion to close the meeting was made, motion carried and meeting closed at 0922 hours.
